Are elders angels?
by hamilcarr init's amazing to see how all the supernatural beings mentioned in the bible are supposed to have a counterpart in real world, more specifically within the hierarchical wt structure.
a previous wt study pointed out that the governing body corresponds to jehovah in its capacity of sending out representatives.
jesus was said to correspond to the class of missionaries taught by the governing body, just like jesus (or michael) had been instructed by his heavenly father.

Free Will?
by ex-nj-jw ini just had a conversation with my sibling regarding free will.
he's going on and on about how jehoover gave us free will and that gives us the choice to accept him or not.
now, i will confess that i never paid attention at the meetings, didn't give a hoot about doctrine, the bible or whatever they were spewing from the platform so maybe that's why i don't get this.

Real One,
If you don't use your free will gift actively then isn't it like burying the coin instead of investing it? Wouldn't you be a lazy, good for nothing slave and be thrown out to nash your teeth while those of us who actively use it are rewarded accordingly?
That's just a cop out for not taking responsibility for the results of your own actions. If you screw up you can blame the devil. If you win, you thank god. You will have learned nothing.
I don't know how to spell everything, sorry.

We all live within the decency boundary (we all should, anyway) so why is it necessary to worship a god? Worship or die no matter how decent a person you are. Worship or die. It never said just be good. No, it included worship, which has nothing to do with being decent. Remember the Aztecs? They worshipped god. I mean they REALLY worshipped him with human sacrifice and everything. God would be pleased with such devotion, wouldn't he? God just wants attention. Why should anyone be forced (no free will) on pains of death to worship him? Why? What does it accomplish? Free will of that brand means free will to worship him, only. It's one sided "free will." To me, free will is multi-faceted. It includes REASONABLE choices. Death is not a reasonable choice, therefore there is no such thing as the free will as offered by the Bible. Free to choose between life and death is no choice at all. It's a trap. No freedom involved.

TURIN SHROUD/ Has anyone found a faith after leaving??
by chuckyy inhi.. ive recently been reading some really interesting stuff about the turin shroud, how it could be authentic after all, and the evidence that points to its authenticity.
of course, this gives me reason for thinking that "what if the gospels are true after all?
has anyone else here looked at the subject of the turin shroud??.

I no longer feel guilty for demanding to see what I'm worshipping. I worship nature because I see what nurtures me and every living being. I feel no guilt for not being able to worship something that I can't see. Remember that guilt laid on us by WTS that says if we don't have faith in what we can't see (gives wind as an example) then how can we have faith in oh, whatever...I can't remember it exactly but it was a guilt trip of sorts. You know what I'm talking about. Completely twisted logic.

Warning: Sarcastic answer to follow:
Turin Shroud-Jesus
Cheeto found in bag of Cheetos-Jesus
Bun found at a bakery-Mother Theresa
Clouds-Anything you want them to be
Upshot-I don't believe in it.

Your relationship with Jesus Christ
by real one inwhat kind of a relationship are we suppose to have with jesus christ?

Real One,
By saying that Jesus doesn't listen to sinners, you just cancelled yourself out of the "Jesus hears me" "Jesus loves me" "Jesus saves" group because "ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALLEN SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD." So, why does Jesus even stick around and listen to prayers if he doesn't listen to the prayers of sinners?
He needs to go somewhere where there are no sinners so he can listen to their prayers.
Real One, THINK!

This just proves how out of touch with reality, society, education, and science the elders really are. "Dr." Phil would be much better than these. With or without a license to practice, he did have the training. He violates ethical guidlines but the elders get off scott free because THEY FOLLOW GUIDLINES as set out by janitors and window washers. Their code of ethics is different than those of professionals who deal with this kind of thing often.

Oh, and it usually happens over a period of two years. That is the average. It will continue until someone puts a stop to it, be it the mother or the child her/himself.
Only the most recent encounters are counted for punishment because of a statute of limitations for the older encounters. This makes it harder to prosecute because it reduces the number of incidents for that case. It could have gone on the child's entire life yet only the last few count if they are within a certain time span.
Now, add to that the two witness rule where the only witness is a child who would make a bad one because of age and you get pedophiles who get away with it.
Please know that only .05 of children lie about being abused.
Less than 2% of women lie about being raped.
Also, add to all of this that the men are upstanding in the congregation and you have pedophiles and rapists with diplomatic immunity. DI keeps the congregations LOOKING clean.
